Put Phil Dawson Into the Pro Bowl

Cleveland Browns punter Reggie Hodges recently wrote an open letter to get placekicker and teammate Phil Dawson into the Pro Bowl. Despite being a mainstay and one of the best kickers in the game, Dawson has never made the trip to the Pro Bowl in his career.

As a way to reach out to fans, Hodges wrote an open letter with a link to the NFL voting site (http://www.nfl.com/probowl/ballot) to encourage vans to vote for Dawson to get into the Pro Bowl. Whether or not that will get Dawon elected to the team has yet to be seen but the placekicker deserves the honor.

Dawson has been with the team since 1999 and the last remaining player from the team that returned that season. Dawson has seen several head coaches, general managers and team personnel walk through the Browns’ offices and has stuck with the team through the thick and the thin. Dawson has almost never complained publicly about the team struggling and has been an offensive mainstay for this team since the 1999 season. Dawson has done his job and done it well since coming to the Browns.

In certain games when the offense has struggled, Dawson’s field goals have kept the Browns in the game. In some games, Dawson has been the only offense the Browns could provide.

Dawson would love to finish his career in Cleveland and the fans have always supported him in this city. The best thing that could happen to Dawson is to have him represent the Browns in the Pro Bowl to celebrate what has been an incredible career.
