Sources: Cleveland Cavaliers get Washington Wizards’ Antawn Jamison in 3-team deal – ESPN

Sources are indicating the Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired Antawn Jamison from the Washington Wizards in exchange for Zydrunas Illgauskus. The Wizards are also said to be getting a first round draft pick from the Cavaliers in the deal.

After days of speculation, it appears the Cavaliers have pulled off a trade that will benefit them in the long run. Jamison is a reliable player whose style seemed to be a good fit for the Cavaliers and the team did not have to include JJ Hickson or Jamario Moon in the deal. Hickson has developed into a reliable starter while Moon has been proven to be a leader and aggressive rebounder off the bench. The Cavaliers managed to pull off the trade without having to give up Hickson or Moon.

Rumors circulated earlier in the week that Amar’e Stoudemire would be on his way to Cleveland from the Phoenix Suns. While many thought the deal would go through, questions of Stoudemire’s relationship with Shaquille O’Neal and style of play were big questions. The Cavaliers would have had to deal JJ Hickson as part of the trade raising questions as to whether or not it was worth parting ways with Hickson for an aging Stoudemire.

The trade should work well for the Cavaliers as Jamison is able to run pick and roll plays, is an aggressive rebounder, great outside shooter and averages around 20 points per game. Jamison is also quick, agile and should fit well within the Cavaliers system. Jamison will be able to run pick and roll plays with Lebron James and will help make the team a bigger offensive threat.
